A friend and mentor

Ted was a great friend, a peer, a colleague, a mentor and an advisor to me. We first met when I was at ASFMRA and he was with the Appraisal Subcommittee, and our firendship continued through his tenure with the American Society of Appraisers and mine at the Appraisal Institute, and then upon his retirement. He welcomed me to the DC area when I came to the Department of the Interior, and I was a guest at the farm several times. Just recently, in March (if memory serves), Ted and I spent a day touring about in Baltimore. For someone who had lived there only a few months, Ted was remarkably knowledgeable about the area where he had settled -- from the renovated Mill where he lived, to the Johns Hopkins Art Institute, to the best local dining and to the Druid Hills area (which he told me was referred to as "Droodles" by the locals), Ted was well informed and - as always - a great conversationalist. I will miss his quiet wisdom, his logical approach to life's dilemmas and his friendship.
